Happy Friday everyone...always good to get to another weekend. I haven't been home much in the last 2 weeks having been in London the week before Easter and then getting home late every day this week. Tonight I'm getting a few hours to myself to wind down, drink some strong beer, and maybe bang out a yet-unfishing video project. Speaking of which...
Unfortunately, in part to a less-congenial-than-expected interaction with one of my clients a few weeks back, I'm still stuck working on a job on which I already undercharged, over-delivered, and had well contracted. No point in getting into details but let's just say lots of lessons learned on this one.
On a more pleasant note, I had the opportunity to film at my Grandmother's 80th birthday party. My Mom had thought up the idea to hire my video partner to shoot the event, but was concerned about the cost (the thought was that I shouldn't be the one shooting the event, since I should be enjoying myself). Finally the idea came to me to interview family members to get their personal messages to Grammy. It would be something that wouldn't drag me away from the party too much and would be simpler to edit than a traditional event video. Not surprisingly, I'm turning it into something not much simpler to edit than a traditional video, but nevertheless it's pretty awesome to be able to document an entire family's memories, praises, and quips about my Grammy who has provide so many memories, praises, and quips herself over the years. She recently declared that "so many families fall apart when a family member dies, so ..... I'm never going to die!!!!"
Happy 80th Birthday Grammy, and hope we have 80 more!
Lastly, I mentioned being in London recently, and I'll probably post a separate essay about that week and why it was unlike any trip I've been on in a long time.
